Celebrating the Power of Community: Together in Education

At Communities In Schools of South Carolina, we believe that when communities come together, real change happens for students.

That belief came to life through Harris Teeter’s Together in Education Round Up Campaign—an initiative that turned everyday grocery trips into meaningful investments in student success.

From July through October 2025, Harris Teeter customers chose to round up their purchases at checkout. Those small, collective acts of generosity added up in a big way, raising more than $300,000 to support students and schools across the Southeast.

A Shared Impact Across the Region

CISSC was proud to be part of this effort, alongside fellow affiliates including CIS Charlotte-Mecklenburg, CIS of North Carolina, and others across the region.

Together, we were collective recipients of these funds, an investment that will directly support students by helping remove barriers to learning and connecting them with the resources they need to thrive.

This campaign is a powerful reminder that impact doesn’t always start with large gestures. Sometimes, it starts with a simple “yes” at the checkout line.

Supporting Students Where They Need It Most

Funds raised through the campaign help expand Communities In Schools’ evidence-based model of integrated student supports—placing caring adults inside schools to ensure students have access to essentials like academic support, mental health resources, basic needs, and more.

Across South Carolina, this means:

  • More students connected to critical resources
  • More support for educators and schools
  • More opportunities for young people to stay in school and achieve in life

When students have what they need, the results are clear—greater engagement, stronger academic outcomes, and brighter futures.

Gratitude for a Collective Effort

We are deeply grateful to Harris Teeter for their continued commitment to education and community impact, and to every customer who chose to round up.

Your small action became part of something much bigger. Together, we are building a stronger future, one student at a time.
