Communities In Schools of South Carolina Welcomes 2026–2027 Board of Directors

At Communities In Schools of South Carolina (CISSC), we know that student success is built through strong partnerships. Supporting that mission is a dedicated Board of Directors whose leadership helps shape our organization’s future.

We are proud to welcome our 2026–2027 Board of Directors, a diverse group of leaders from business, education, healthcare, finance, and community development who share one goal: ensuring every South Carolina student has the opportunity to succeed.

This year, we are especially excited to welcome four new members to our Board of Directors. Betsy Strott (AgentOwned Realty), Dr. Renee Linyard-Gary (Roper St. Francis Healthcare), Rachel Parker (Commercial Banker), and Kameron Quick (LS3P) each bring unique expertise, fresh perspectives, and a shared commitment to helping South Carolina students succeed. Our returning board members will help strengthen our organization’s impact and expand opportunities for students across the state.

Leading with Purpose

Serving as Board Chair for the 2026–2027 term is Merriweather Mulé, CFP®, CDFA®, FCEP, of Beacon Pointe Advisors. Joining her on the Executive Committee are:

  • Vice Chair: Tim Cotter, The Beach Company
  • Treasurer: Lindsay Ball, CPA, Elliott Davis
  • Secretary: Katherine Watts, LMSW, ACM-SW, Lexington Health
  • Immediate Past Chair: Amir Abdullah, The Hartford Insurance Group

Together, this leadership team will help guide CISSC as we continue expanding our impact across South Carolina.

A Shared Commitment to Students

“Our board members bring diverse expertise, strong community connections and a shared passion for helping students overcome barriers to success,” said Jamie Cooper, President and CEO of Communities In Schools of South Carolina. “Their leadership will help guide our organization as we continue expanding our impact and creating brighter futures for South Carolina students.”

Board Chair Merriweather Mulé echoed that commitment, emphasizing the shared purpose that unites the board.

“Our board members represent organizations and industries from across South Carolina, but they are united by a common purpose: ensuring every child has the support they need to succeed. It is an honor to serve alongside this dedicated group as we continue advancing the mission of Communities In Schools across our state.”

Looking Ahead

Behind every student who stays in school, graduates, or overcomes barriers is a network of people committed to their success. Our Board of Directors plays an essential role in strengthening that network by providing strategic leadership, fostering partnerships, and championing our mission across South Carolina.

As we begin another year of serving students and communities, we are grateful for these leaders who have chosen to invest their time, expertise, and passion in creating brighter futures for children across our state.
